Some GLP-1 days, the goal isn’t a fancy meal — it’s just getting some gentle protein in without making the nausea worse. Soft-scrambled eggs are one of the best options: mild, soft, warm, and 18 grams of protein in about five minutes.

Why this works on a GLP-1

Nausea is one of the most common GLP-1 side effects, and greasy, heavy, or strongly flavored food tends to make it worse. Plain soft-scrambled eggs are the opposite — bland, soft, and protein-dense, so you protect your daily protein even on a rough day. The key is cooking them low and slow so they stay custardy rather than firm and browned.

On a nausea day, remember

  • Eat slowly and in small bites — a smaller amount kept down beats a big plate you can’t finish.
  • Keep it plain — skip grease, heavy spices, and strong smells.
  • Sip water throughout. For the full list of what helps, see GLP-1 side effects: what actually helps.

If nausea is severe, persistent, or you can’t keep fluids down, contact your prescriber — that’s a medical question, not a recipe one.

Gentle, mild, and genuinely doable when food feels hard — sometimes the simplest recipe is the most useful one.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp milk or water (keeps them soft)
  • 1/2 tsp butter or a little olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional, only if tolerated: a slice of plain toast on the side

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk the eggs with the milk and a pinch of salt until just combined.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a nonstick pan over LOW heat — low and slow is the whole trick for soft, gentle eggs.

  3. 3

Add the eggs. Stir slowly and constantly with a spatula, pushing them into soft folds.

  4. 4

Take them off the heat while still slightly glossy and soft (they finish cooking off-heat). Do not brown them.

  5. 5

Eat slowly, in small bites. Add plain toast only if your stomach is up for it.

Tips

  • Keep it plain: on a nausea day, skip pepper, cheese, onions, and grease — mild and soft is easier to keep down.
  • Low heat matters: gentle cooking keeps eggs soft and custardy, which sits better than firm, browned eggs.
  • Small bites, slow pace, and sips of water — see more in our guide to GLP-1 side effects and what helps.
